ISKCON FOOD RELIEF FOUNDATION

A Strategic program to address two of the most pressing problems of India : Hunger & Education. The Government of India has made education for children in the age group of 6 to 14 years compulsory, but poverty prevents the underprivileged from getting full value of their educational experience.

Hunger obstructs education as children are forced to leave schools and take up menial jobs. Lack of education curtails opportunities for development and leads to the vicious cycle of poverty and hunger. Education empowers a child to explore his potentials and earn a decent living and live a respectable life in our society.

"ISKCON FOOD RELIEF FOUNDATION", has resolved to liberate the underprivileged from this vicious cycle by feeding the poor with sanctified and nutritious food.

In just seven years since it was founded, the program has scaled to provide over 2,00,000 in Maharashtra and more than 10,00,000 from our centers in 10 states in India hygienic and nutritious meals every day through an extremely cost-effective program. MIDDAY MEAL has demonstrated and is now showcased as an operating model that can strategically address two of the most pressing problems for poor children in India : hunger and education.

Our goal is to scale the program to serve over 13,00,000 children per day by 2013. We believe success on that scale will offer a model of replication by other developmental organizations and State Governments across India .To many of our children, the "MIDDAY MEAL" is the only complete meal that they have access to during the entire day. This has produced dramatic results in terms of enrolment, attendance, and attention spans.

We are seeking your assistance to grow MIDDAY MEAL and to make it a model for addressing a large and desperate problem for children in India .

Preaching Activities

ISKCON Nellore conducts various preaching programs like House programs, public programs, College Programs and Nagara Sankirtan, Book Distribution, Prasad Distribution to Jails, Orphanages, Old age homes and Schools. Harinama Sankirtan in temples and gatherings on request to distribute the Holy name.

Inauguration Of GOSHALA

Goshalas are protective shelters in India for cows. Goshalas focus on treating cows in accordance with Hinduism philosophy.

Lord Sri Krishna says in Srimad Bhagavatam, "I can be worshiped within the Cows by offerings of grass and other suitable grains and paraphernalia for the pleasure and health of the Cows, and one may worship me with in the Vaishnavas by offering loving friendship to them and honouring them in all respects."

By serving the Cows one receives tremendous spiritual benefit.  Feeding grains to the Cows, offering puja, or simply a scratch under the neck will please these peaceful personalities and attracts the attention of supreme personality of God.

Our Mission:

1.To propagate and promote love for the cow and its virtues.
2.To make cow-protection a people's movement.
3.To work for the protection and conservation of cow.
4.To campaign against the cruelty to cow and its progeny.

Bhagavat Geeta describes how Lord Krishna cared for the cows and calves every morning, by taking them to graze on the Govardhana hill. We should also try to serve the cows with similar attitude - by providing means for their food, shelter and medication.
